We read every pitch and promise to reply, but as a small team, please allow some time for responses.

How to Submit

• Specify whether your pitch is for:

  • A one-time submission, or

  • A recurring column on our platform.

What We’re Looking For

Written Contributions

• Historical deep dives connecting food and feeling. (Example: The Search for General Tso)

• Recipes featuring the topic of the current issue as an ingredient, with a thematic introduction.

• Flash fiction & short stories.

• Poetry.

• Unexpected interviews.

• Personal & lyric essays.

• Cultural criticism (literature, film, art, pop culture), must be food related.

• Profiles.

• Humor pieces.

• Underrepresented storytelling formats, including:

  • Comics

  • Listicles

  • Historical taxonomies

Visual Contributions

• We welcome all visual mediums.

• If you would like to be commissioned to create art for an accepted pitch, let us know!

• Have an existing body of work that fits the theme? Send it our way!

Payment Rates

All commissioned contributors receive a free digital copy of the issue they contributed to.

• $12 per interview.

• $10 per essay, review, or work of fiction.

• $5 per poem.

• $15 per artwork.

• $3 per recipe.
